How To Say No

#ImBeautyInspired

Why do we feel bad or guilty when we tell someone no? Why do we feel the need to offer an explanation when we say no? Why do we get nervous or sad when the answer is no?

No is such a powerful word but it’s very hard for most people to use or understand. I am here to tell you that it’s okay to say no and mean it with no explanation needed. No need to feel scared or worried. No need to feel shy when you say it. No is a powerful word and you should use it sometime!

Remember the following the next time you have to use the word no.

  1. No is a complete sentence. I learned this golden nugget from my aunt in my head… Aunt Oprah. And when you think about this statement you have to see the truth in it. No?
  1. Don’t hold back. Say it like you mean it! My other aunt in my head dropped this little gem. Thanks Aunt Wendy Williams. When you say it like you mean it, you empower yourself in so many ways.
  1. Don’t say sorry at the end of a no because you’re really not. And it negates the no. Just say no. Try it; I’m sure you’ll be surprised with the results.
  1. Practice makes perfect. If you practice it enough the feeling of guilt starts to lessen. You’ll be a pro in no time. Let’s practice…NO, No, no. Was that hard? No!
  1. There is beauty in the word no even if it’s the answer that you don’t want to hear. Sometimes no means not yet and not yet means it’s just not your time.

Remember: You don’t owe anyone anything. You’re not obligated to always say yes. You do have a choice. Find your voice and say no. When you do, you’ll feel a sense of calm and power all the same time.

And when you receive the word no as an answer don’t get discouraged because that no may be the start of something greater to come. There is beauty in the word no! Do you see it? Have a wonderful week! MUAH
