Be Intentional With Your Time

Beauty is respecting the value of time & being intentional on how you use it!

Time is the one thing in life that you can never get back. You can’t hit the rewind button to change the things you don’t like.

Be intentional on how you use your time and who you use it on; make sure they and it are worth it.

Today is day 2 of the new year. Are you using your time wisely or are you letting time pass you by? Don’t waste your time or energy on people, places and things that don’t serve you well. Respect the value of your time and be intentional on how you use it!

Be Unafraid And Embrace The Unknown

Beauty is being unafraid & embracing the unknown!

It is easy to be afraid of the unknown, but the beauty in life is that you can let go and not allow those things to hold you back. You can live a carefree life but you have to be open and unafraid to try new things. Being unafraid means to believe in the unknown and have faith that things will happen in due time.

There’s no playbook for life, you write the rules as you go. Most people have a fear of the unknown because they want to plan every single detail or they seek perfection. There is no such thing as perfection, you have to embrace the unknown and accept the choices you make in life.

My motto is to learn, live, love and laugh daily; don’t worry about what may happen because tomorrow may never come, live for today!

Today, I will not be afraid and embrace the beauty of the unknown. I will accept my choices in life, learn from my mistakes and learn how to be perfectly imperfect!  I will trust my instinct and try new things. I will not let the past hold me back and I will look forward to a brighter future. I will have faith as well as trust and believe in the beauty of the unknown. I will live a carefree life! I will be open to trying new things and not be afraid of the unknown. What about you? How will you embrace the beauty of the unknown and not be afraid?

The Beauty Of My Fears And Success

Beauty is moving past your deepest fear & getting out of your own way!

My biggest fear was failure and my deepest fear was success. I used to be afraid that people wouldn’t understand my work. I used to believe that my writing wasn’t good enough. As Erykah Badu so eloquently stated, “I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my sh!t!”

I was shy, I never thought it was good enough and I was my worst critic. After investing in a great business coach (thank you Donna). I soon realized that it didn’t matter if anyone accepted my work or writing; it only had to be good enough for me! If I accepted it and believed in it then others will see the confidence in me and accept it too.

On the flip side, I was scared of being successful and sometimes I still feel that way. I guess if I feel like if I get too successful I may lose my passion and understanding of what got me there in the first place. I don’t want to change who I am.

But I have come to realize that change is good because it helps you grow. And if I get out of my own way I can set the tone for my success and at the pace that I want.

Next week starts a new year but I’m not waiting until then. I am getting out and staying out of my own way today! I will learn, I will grow and I will have success in every area of my life. I will not look back and I will move forward! I will do what I feel and live without regrets. And I will no longer let my fears control my destiny because I am destined for greatness!

What are your greatest fears? What’s getting in the way of your success? What will you change and how will you grow?

5 Steps To Forgiveness

#ImBeautyInspired

One of the hardest things is life is to forgive someone who has wronged you. An even bigger issue is forgiving yourself of past mistakes.

A lot of people hold grudges or have a hard time releasing guilt. Sometimes it’s hard to move on when you’re mad. I get it. I’ve been there and I’ve done that. But, I’m here to tell you that grudges and guilt kept me stagnate. I was held captive in my own emotions.

Releasing the pain was not easy. I had to accept an apology from someone who hurt me. I also had to realize the more I held on to my guilt for hurting someone or myself did me more harm than good.

How did I forgive? How did I move on? Here are a few steps I took to forgive.

1. Don’t Take It Personal: When someone hurts you, it’s not always his or her intent to do so. A lot of times it’s not about you. It’s about their issues, situations or circumstances.

2. Communicate: A lot of problems in the world would be solved if we were just honest and talked them through.

Sometimes people don’t know they hurt you because that was not their intent. So if your feelings are hurt, say so.

3. Be Honest: Be truthful with yourself with the guilt you are feeling and let it go. Be truthful with others and communicate how you feel.

4. Forgive: Don’t just say I forgive you and hold a grudge. Forgive and move on. What good does it serve you to be upset? It doesn’t; it just ruins your mood when you stay mad at someone. Let it go!

5. Forget: This is the hardest but if you can’t forget, you can’t properly forgive. You’ll always be stuck in that memory and that moment until you actually move on.

I get it! Forgiveness is not easy. But, when you forgive you set yourself free. You’re free from the anger, guilt, sadness, pain and hurt. Beauty is forgiveness; let go and be free!

Opportunity Is Knocking

Opportunity

I’ve learned not to wait for opportunity. In the world of today, you have to sometimes make an opportunity for yourself then take it to the next level. Gone is the era of opportunity knocking; that’s a rare occasion.

Today we must take chances, risk and step out on faith. Life is not meant to wait for something great to happen. Sometimes greatness comes because you made it happen. You decided you wanted more and you made the move to go forward.

Well congratulations…you took the first step. Now move forward and take your opportunity to the next level. Explore your options; expand your reach and open doors not just for you but for others too! The benefit and reward will be worth it ten times over if you make it happen instead of waiting.

My mom has always told me, “Where there’s a will there’s a way! The question is: do you have the will?”

6 Simple Ways To Living A Life That Pleases You

#ImBeautyInspired

Are you coasting through life and just existing? Or are you making the most of life and living a life that pleases you? Life is worth living and living it well. Everyday will not be amazing and everyday will not be blah. You have a choice and the power within you to live your life the way you want; so make sure it pleases you at all times.

I must admit that once upon a time I was guilty of just existing in life. Several years ago I received a promotion for work to live in a state where I didn’t know anyone. At the time I was more of an introvert so it was hard for me to get involved in events on my own. I couldn’t go out with the people at my job because they all reported to me and that made it awkward when I had to discipline them. So I existed. I worked, came home and watched a lot of TV. And at some point I became miserable.

I’m telling you this because it’s easy to just go through the motions of life and not realize your mood and energy. People can sense when you’re uptight or have bad energy. When you’re depressed or miserable and people will stay away or you’ll attract the same type of people. And like the saying goes, “misery loves company.”

Don’t create a pity party. Don’t let your emotions get the best of you. Snap out of it and find a way to live a life that pleases you because you only have one.

It wasn’t easy for me to make changes but here are a few things I did that changed my life for the better!

1. Honesty: I was honest with myself. I knew I was in a dark place but the only way I could get out was to be honest with myself. I asked myself…why do I feel the way I do? Would I feel this way in a city where I knew people? What changes could I make with my attitude to make things better now?

2. I Quit: I quit making excuses and feeling sorry for myself. It’s easy to fall into this trap when you feel alone. You’re never alone. There are people all around you. You just have to quit and take charge of your life.

3. Make a Decision: I decided I needed a work life balance and living in a city  I hated was not going to work. So, I devised a plan to get out and move on with or without my current job at that time.

4. Apologize: I apologized to myself and I apologized to anyone who I may have upset. I had to forgive myself for allowing things to get as far as they did. And I had to ask for forgiveness for anyone I may have hurt.

5. Move On: I let go of my feelings and past hurts from that time. I have moved on and I count that experience as a lesson learned.

6. Live: Today, I live a life that pleases me to the best of my ability! I will not allow anything or anyone bring me down or change my mood. I live for me! What about you? How will you live a life that pleases you?

7 Effective Ways To Prepare For The Unexpected

#ImBeautyInspired

The beauty in life is that we always have options. But the question is are you prepared? Are you prepared for life’s obstacles, blessings and advancement? Are you ready to move to the next level or are you okay with being content?

Being better prepared throughout life is a beautiful thing. It makes you more resilient, more aware of who you are and more empathetic towards others. When you’re prepared you’re the leader and not the follower, the victor and not the victim and an inspiration for others!

I’m sure you may be asking how can I prepare myself for the unknown? Here are a few tips that I’ve implemented over the years to help me stay ready.

1. Educate: Try to learn something new everyday. You never know when that knowledge will come in handy. Knowledge is power and power helps you overcome obstacles!

2. Relax: Relax your mind and allow your energy to flow. Take deep breaths in and out for about 10 minutes at the start or end of your workday. Shake off all the stress and leave it at work or home. When your mind is free; you’re free. When you’re free; you’re prepared!

3. Believe: Don’t allow yourself to go into a situation with doubt. Doubt will make you afraid and keep you unprepared for any and everything. Believe you can and you will be ready for anything that comes your way. You got this!

4. Determination: Don’t give up when something unfamiliar comes your way. Try to tackle the situation and if at first you don’t succeed; try again. Determination is the key to success!

5. Be Open: Don’t be afraid of change. Change can be a good thing if you embrace it. You don’t have to prepare for change just find a way to embrace it and make it work in your favor. When you are open to change or newness, you are open to learning and advancing!

6. Be Resourceful: If you don’t have the answer find someone who does. Surround yourself with people who can and want to help you. Your resources can improve the odds!

7. Pray: Prayer will get you through it and it always works! If you don’t pray, meditate. God is my source for everything! I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! Philippians 4:13

No one can be totally prepared for the unknown and the unexpected but you can feel more confident when and if a situation should arise. You are more resilient and ready for the next thing. You are stronger, wiser and more courageous. You’re ready!

Today, I am taking steps to try and prepare for the unknown, the unexpected and the difficult times. I will adapt and adjust to the situation with a positive outlook. I will expect a great outcome. And I will be ready to share my experiences and stories with others to lead, inspire and claim victory! I will lay the groundwork for my future and wellbeing! What about you?

Be The Exception To The Rule

#ImBeautyInspired

We’re made to be different. We’re born to be unique. We’re all unique individuals created to be the exception to the rule. But most people will not stand out from the norm or sets his or her own standards. Most people abide by the rules or what society says and live life accordingly.

Some people are afraid to live life outside of their comfort zone, step outside of the box, color outside the lines or create their own rules. And that’s okay if you want to stay complacent or if you’re okay with where you are in life or have no aspirations to grow.

As for me, I want to have it all in every aspect of my life. I want to be a leader and not a follower. I want to be the exception to the rule!

Throughout life, I’ve never been one to accept that things have to a certain way. I’ve never been afraid to challenge rules or create my own. I guess that’s the creative side in me and knowing that I only have one life to live so I better make the best of it.

Here are a few things I’ve done and a few things I’ve picked up along the way from others.

1. Believe: Believe in yourself. If you don’t believe in you, no one will take you seriously. And they’ll try to walk all over you.

2. Trust: Trust your instincts. If you’re in-tune with your mind, body and soul…your instincts will not lead you astray.

3. Fail: Don’t be afraid to fail but make sure you learn something from that failure. You don’t want to make the same mistake twice.

4. Break the Rules: Sometimes it’s better to ask for forgiveness rather than permission. If you believe something can be done better or more efficient, take the risk.

5. Excel: Give 110% in everything you do. Hard work pays off and people will notice.

6. Praise: Don’t be afraid to give yourself praise and toot your own horn. Not in a cocky way because that can be annoying and unattractive. Give yourself the credit you deserve.

Sometimes, I give myself a high-five, pat on the back or thumbs up for a job well done. I celebrate my wins and learn from my losses.

7. Be Fearless: It’s okay to be nervous but don’t be afraid. Fear will only hold you back. Be bold enough to ask for what you want and brave enough to pursue what you deserve!

If you want to be the exception to the rule you have that option; you have a choice. You can make your own rules and be your own boss. You can make a difference and stand out in a crowd. You have the ability to make change happen. You can be the exception to the rule!

Have a wonderful week! MUAH

5 Tips to The Road of Happiness!

#ImBeautyInspired

Sometimes as adults we forget about our happiness. We don’t take time enjoy the little things in life like laughing, playing and enjoying the things that make us happy.

When you take life too seriously you lose the fun in you. You become boring, uptight or just blah. Believe me when I tell you because this used to be me!

Once upon time I lost my zest for life. I was so busy “adulting” that I forgot about me. I forgot to enjoy life; laugh and play plus do the things that made me happy.

I used to be planner and everything had to be a certain way at a certain time in life. I didn’t really know how to be spontaneous. I didn’t like doing things out of the blue. I wasn’t about that life!

One day I realized that everyone around me was having fun and enjoying life except me. One day I took a chance and did something that was not planned. I let go of the reigns and had fun; I embraced my inner child and I haven’t looked back since.

This was not an easy task for me to continue. But I realized there was more to life than just “adulting” so I challenged myself to enjoy life more.

I know that sounds a little crazy but it worked! Here are a few things I did to bring my inner child to life.

1. Talk to Yourself! Yep, that’s right, I talked to myself. And I asked myself when was I the happiest in life and what was I doing at the time? This forced me to recreate some fun moments in life and make new memories.

2. Stop Planning! Everything and every moment doesn’t need a plan. I stopped planning my personal life, I let go and had fun. My professional life is a little different too. Instead of making hard core plans, I set smart goals.

3. Embrace Spontaneity! Do something you’ve be wanting to do and just do it. Don’t make plans for it. Just do it!

4. Live Now! Take time to enjoy the beauty in life that surrounds you everyday. No one is promised tomorrow. Do something fun everyday even if it’s something small.

5. Power Down! Take a break and live without your gadgets for a day or several hours. Stop being so attached to your phones, computers and techie stuff. Have real conversations on the phone or face to face. Enjoy each other’s company and detach yourself from the social media world. Old school communication can still be fun!

Life was not created to just live. It’s created to be happy, laugh and have fun! Let go and enjoy what matters the most…you! Embrace your inner child, live in the moment and enjoy the beauty of happiness!

Remember: “All work and no play made Jack a dull boy!” Don’t be Jack…go out, be happy and bring your inner child to life! Have a wonderful week! MUAH
