Spring Forward With Fashion Fair’s Spring Collection

Yesterday I had the pleasure of previewing the new Spring Collection for Fashion Fair Cosmetics Eyes Wide Shut. The colors are bold, beautiful and explosive! Ladies get ready to clutch your pearls because the new spring collection is not your mama’s makeup from back in the day.

The shadows are amazing and they adhere to the skin with no flaking upon application. The lipstick shades are very diverse with three neutral tones and three hues of red that perfect your pretty pout. And the illuminating powders are sexy yet sweet offering a hint of shimmer with a sun kissed look. Oh, and I shall not forget the liquid liner that offers a line so precise it will put your pencil to shame as well as a mascara that gives dramatic, long and voluminous lashes.

And if that wasn’t enough, there are two limited edition sweet smelling moisturizing body sets; French Riviera Blue, a romantic floral fragrance inspired by the French Riviera and Santorini Getaway, a zesty citrus fragrance inspired by the Greek Island of Santorini. Each set includes: moisturizing body oil that absorbs directly into the skin and moisturizing body crème, which softens instantly and adds a subtle glow. These body products will be sure to make your bath time more glam and luxurious!

After learning about the new Spring Collection, I was ready to get my beauty play date on! It started with a selfie with the President of Fashion Fair Amy Hilliard.

After the cute selfie, I was off to the makeup chair to let the talented Tia Dantzler, Creative Director for Fashion Fair and Celebrity Makeup Artist make my face fierce! Tia used Livid and Tahiti eyeshades with Sun illuminating powder.

While Tia worked her magic, I asked her to give me three tips that every girl needs to incorporate this summer and here is what she said:

  • Mix your moisturizer with your foundation. This will help your foundation last longer and this gives you a smooth flawless look.
  • Every woman should have blotting papers in your purse to avoid looking oily to blot away the shine.
  • Every woman should wear sunscreen with a least a 15 – 20 SPF! This will avoid sunburn and premature aging.

After my fab makeover, I took some candid shots of some of my blogger friends…

Fashion Fair Beauty Alert

Fashion Fair, the largest black-owned cosmetics company in the world has made a major announcement! The legendary brand is rebranding and they are starting at the top. They have selected Amy S. Hilliard, as the new President over the Johnson Publishing owned beauty brand. She will be responsible for overall operations of the company and growing the brand in sales, marketing and building retail partnerships.

How exciting for Fashion Fair to have so much newness over the past few months! Last fall, they hosted an amazing soirée, “Say Yes to Life, Love and Beauty” for the re-launch of the website and debut of the short film “Say Yes”, they named Celebrity Makeup Artist Tia Dantzler as the new Creative Director and now Amy S. Hilliard as the President for the brand!

Amy, a Detroit Native comes to the brand with a wealth of knowledge and experience. She has served as President, CEO and Founder of The ComfortCake Company LLC, the maker of “poundcake so good it feels like a hug!” ComfortCake has also been featured on several cooking and news shows as well as national publications. She owns The Hilliard Group Inc., a strategic marketing consulting, product development and speaking firm. And she has held prominent roles at L’Oreal for Soft Sheen Products, Burrell Communications, The Pillsbury Company and The Gillette Company just to name a few.

The CEO of Johnson Publishing Desiree Rodgers says “We are excited to bring Amy into the Fashion Fair family. Amy comes to us with an extensive background in marketing and business development, and we look forward to having her expertise and leadership as we re-launch the Fashion Fair Cosmetics brand and continue our business growth.”

“I am sincerely honored to take over the role of President for Fashion Fair Cosmetics,” added Hilliard. “This company holds an iconic role in the African-American community. Personally meeting Mrs. Eunice Johnson as she launched the brand was historic, and I am excited to play a role in the company’s growth and expansion globally.”

In 2013, Fashion Fair’s motto was “Say Yes to Life, Love and Beauty.” In 2014 I believe the motto should be, “Say Yes to Change, Growth and Beauty!” It will be exciting to see the new ideas, growth and transformation that Amy S. Hilliard will bring to the brand in her new position as the President starting on February 24th.

Congratulations Amy, I wish you much success in your new role with Fashion Fair!

Say Yes to Life, Love and Beauty: An Event by Fashion Fair

Last Wednesday, I had the pleasure of attending the Fashion Fair “Say Yes” to Life, Love and Beauty Party at the Pump Room in Chicago hosted by Linda Johnson Rice, Desiree Rogers and Mitzi Miller; the women who continue to lead and flourish the Johnson Publishing brand.

IMG_1332This was an amazing event to say the least! It was an opportunity to mix and mingle with industry leaders and talented peers to celebrate the short film “Say Yes” from the award-winning Sundance filmmaker, Ava DuVernay. The film encouraged women of color to “say yes” to life, love and beauty; a concept that I am happy to embrace and share through my blog. I believe that life is too short not to “say yes” and you should always do what you feel and have no regrets!

The party consisted of 250 accomplished women who all chose to “say yes”. The dance floor was filled and the beats were jamming from the awesome celebrity DJ Kiss. There were special appearances from Chicago’s very own Actress Drew Sidora (Crazy, Sexy Cool: The TLC Story) and Michelle Williams (Broadway Star and former member of Destiny’s Child).

There was also re-launch of the newly revamped Fashion Fair website. We had an opportunity to test some of the beautiful products from Fashion Fair and receive mini makeovers featuring the amazing Celebrity Makeup Artist and new Creative Director for Fashion Fair, Tia Dantzler with the Fashion Fair team.

It was indeed a star-studded event with many accomplished women. But it was not about the star power or the accomplishments; it was about celebrating women of color “saying yes” to life, love and beauty! Thank you to the Johnson Publishing team for a night of connections and many memories that I will cherish; this was definitely a night of “Girl Power” x 3! Be sure to check out the new and improved Fashion Fair website and “Say Yes”!
