A Molton Brown Experience – A Luxury Shower Gel and Lotion

A few months ago, I flew to NYC to check out the beauty capital in the USA and the first thing I wanted to do was head over to the Molton Brown store! The company originated in London, England, 1973 and they are known as the bath, body and beauty specialist.  They infuse the products with exotic ingredients and sensual smells. This luxurious brand is definitely worth a try.

Molton Brown is actually one of my favorite bath and body brands because the smell and quality is just so amazing! They recently opened a new flagship store in NYC and I wanted to take in the ambiance, linger inside and of course, make a purchase. Yes, I know, I am a total sucker when it comes to products and this time was no different…LOL.

IMG_2151Anywho, I received great service from a guy (I can’t remember his name) but he was so patient with me as I smelled EVERYTHING in the entire store…LBVS! I must say that it was a little bit of an overload because there was so many products but I had to smell them all as I needed to find the perfect body wash to fall in love with 🙂 .

IMG_2150Here’s the Glam: It was love at last smell with the Ambrusca Cleansing Shower Oil and Conditioning Body Lotion. The Cleansing Shower Oil hydrates and tones the skin. It is a fresh floral smell that lingers with an amazing aroma that last throughout the day. A little goes a long way and it leaves the skin so soft. And surprisingly, the shower oil gives a good lather but not as much as a gel.

The Conditioning Body Lotion is hydrating and leaves the skin silky and smooth! Both products are rich in antioxidants with grape leaf extract and Moroccan argan oil to help tone the skin. And the scent is just so amazing that it makes me heart shower time even more 🙂 .

Here’s the Slam: There is not a Molton Brown store in Chicago; you can only order online and the body lotion is currently out of stock 🙁 , boo and hiss! It is a little on the expensive side but, it is totally worth the cost.

My final grade for the Ambrusca Cleansing Shower Oil and Conditioning Body Lotion is…(yes you’ve guessed it) 5 out of 5 smooches…MUAH!!! If you are interested in purchasing these products, you can do so at moltonbrown.com or visit the store in NYC!  The shower oil is $34 and the body lotion is $39. Happy pampering!!!

Beauty Week in Review – My NYC Experience – part I

Hi Beauty Scholars!!! I am back from NYC and instead of sharing the usual Beauty Week in Review; I am going to share my beauty experience from my time in NYC. Don’t worry, there was not a lot going on in the world of beauty last week to report. My trip to NYC was far more exciting…LOL.

I flew to NYC on Tuesday and the first thing I wanted to do was head over to the Molton Brown store!!! This is one of my favorite bath and body brands because the smell and quality is just amazing!!! I wanted to see the new flagship store and of course, make a purchase…I know, I am a total sucker when it comes to products.

Anywho, I received great service from a guy (I can’t remember his name) and he was so patient with me as I smelled EVERYTHING in the entire store…LBVS!!! It was a little bit of an overload but I needed to find a new body wash to fall in love with :-). It was love at last smell with the Ambrusca Cleansing Shower Oil and Conditioning Body Lotion. The Cleansing Shower Oil not only lathers but also hydrates and tones the skin as well. It is a fresh floral smell that lingers with an amazing aroma. The Conditioning Body Lotion is hydrating and leaves the skin silky and smooth!!! Ah…it makes me heart shower time even more.

Wednesday: I went to an awesome holiday spotlight event hosted by beautypress.com where I was introduced to new brands and products. I was so excited to have one on one time with the owners of the brands and hear how passionate they are about their products. It was also good to know that I was not the only product junkie in the room…LOL.

I am glad that beautypress chooses to spotlight new brands and products as it helps me learn more information and pass the news on to you. Here are the brands that I had a chance to talk to:

Pour le Monde – A 100% natural, vegan Fragrance Company where every product shines a spotlight on some of the world’s most important charities. 10% of the sale of each fragrance is given back to a designated charity. The scents were amazing and my favorites were Envision and Together. I love how this brand is giving back on a continuous basis and how the names embrace giving!!!

IMG_1421

Menaji – A Skincare brand for the confident man. They offer Face and Body Scrub, Deep Cleansing Masque, Power Hydrator Moisturizing Aftershave, Lip Agent, Eye Gel, Anti-Aging Eraser and Concealing High Definition Powder. Yes, ladies…your man can stop secretly using all your products and have his own stash with masculine packaging. If he’s not convinced that this brand is for him, just tell him athletes, celebrities and politicians use the products and it will help him put his best face forward!!!

IMG_1422

M. Asam Cosmetics – A High-tech cosmetics brand made with tradition from Germany. The products are all about anti-aging with one of my favorite ingredients Grape Seed Extract. Although they had me at Grape Seed and anti-aging, I was impressed by how luxurious the products felt on my skin.

IMG_1423

Savane – An Organic Skincare brand from South Africa. The products are rich with some of the most powerful natural antioxidants and essential Omega fatty acids. The brand believes in ethical sourcing and uses only sustainable harvested wild ingredients to protect biodiversity. They let me try a scrub on my hand that I was able to taste as well because of the natural ingredients and I must say it tasted pretty good. It left my skin feeling soft and supple; I can’t wait to try more products.

IMG_1424

BioElixia – A range of skin and body care products that have been developed to firm the skin and contour and shape the body. I have not had a chance to try this product but I will and a review will follow. I received the Body Shaper Cellulite Contour Crème, which is scientifically proven to reduce the appearance of cellulite by an average of 57%.

IMG_1425

Brocato Supersilk – A revolution in texture control to reduce frizz and loosen the curl pattern to make the hair more manageable. The Nano Silk Complex takes texture management beyond Keratin formulas of the past and makes the hair smooth and sleek. I received the complete system and I am excited to give it a try!!! I will let you know my thoughts in a review of course…LOL.

IMG_1429

The day ended with a swag bag and an awesome cocktail party with a meet and greet of industry professionals. I had an amazing time and I am so excited that I was able to attend.

Stay tuned tomorrow for part II of my NYC beauty week in review!!!

Summer Beauty Tips

Hey Beauty Scholars!!! I don’t know about you but I am ready for summer!!! I am not enjoying this mild winter in spring that we are having…LOL.
So, I started to think if we talk about summer…maybe the weather will start to get warmer!!! Right??? Well, maybe not but it’s worth a try!!!
Today will be all about summer beauty tips!!! YAY SUMMER!!!
Summer Beauty Tip #1…
SPF, SPF, SPF is a MUST!!! Every skin tone should wear SPF!!! This prevents burning as well as skin cancer. The rays from the sun are harsh and you can get sunburn in as little as 15 minutes during the peak of the day!!! OUCH!!!
I know a lot of people like to get that bronze or golden tint to the skin but sunburn is no joke…believe me, I have been there; done that and it was not fun!!! Besides the peeling after the burn is so not cute…IJS!!! You should wear at least SPF 30.
Summer Beauty Tip #2…
Bronzer!!! Bronzer is a safe alternative to getting to sexy summer glow!!! I love to use bronzer on my legs. It gives the appearance of hosiery without the hoise…LOL.
I prefer bronzer over self-tanning because some self-tanners do not offer a natural look and a bronzer will give you a J-Lo glow that will make even J-Lo jealous!!! *giggles*
Here are a few recommendations: Per-fekt body Perfection Gel, Sephora Illuminating Bronzing Gel and Nars Monoi Body Glow.
Summer Beauty Tip #3…
Exfoliation!!! Exfoliation for the face and body is the way to perfect looking smooth soft skin!!! Before you use a bronzer or self-tanner…you must exfoliate to remove the dead surface skin cells. This prevents your bronzer or self-tanner from streaking. It will give you an even tone, a closer shave as well as skin smoother than a baby’s bottom…well…not that smooth but you get my point 🙂
If you are lazy like me, I suggest you use an all in one product that will cleanse and exfoliate at the same time. Multitasking is definitely the key for me!!! LOL. Or you can add scrub to your shower gel for the same effect.
Here are a few recommendations: Soap & Glory Pulp-Friction, Clinique Sparkle Skin Exfoliator and Molton Brown Cassia Bodywash & Scrub.
But wait…there’s more (in my TV infomercial voice)!!! You should not exfoliate daily as you can cause sensitivity to the skin by overindulging. I suggest 2-3 times per week at the most. You also have to wear a sunscreen because you are removing the dead layer of skin, which is now more sensitive to the sun, and being the good friend that I am, I don’t want you to get sunburned!!! (Insert the sweet face here with an aww) teehee!!! Who knew exfoliation was so complicated??? LOL.
Summer Beauty Tip #4…
Manis and Pedis are a MUST!!! I don’t know about you Beauty Scholars but my biggest pet peeve is cracked dry heels as well as chipped and/or unpolished toes in any type of open toe shoes!!! UGH…SIGH…YUK…as you can read, this is a big huge NO NO for me and it should be for you!!! Yes, I am judging and I am not sorry but this is so unattractive on a woman as well as a man (not the polish on a man but the nasty heels). IJS
Never fear, Beauty School ScArlet to the rescue here!!! You can go to the spa and get your mani and pedi or you can do a DIY. If you choose a DIY I have a few suggestions you may want to try!!! The Diamancel Diamond Foot Buffer is an amazing tool to remove dry rough skin (insert disclosure here)…but it is not cheap!!! Even though it is more on the expensive side, it is well worth the cost of $49 because it last a long time and it works!!!
Now I am guilty of dry cuticles from time to time because I never get a chance to get a mani these days let alone a DIY due to the travel I do. Cuticle oil/cream is a great remedy and the one they’re quite a few to choose from. Julep has a Nail 911 Repair System, which includes a cuticle serum with peptides as well as a Nail Therapy polish to strengthen the nails…FTW!!! And don’t forget to exfoliate the hands during your weekly exfoliation of the body. Your hands need love too J
So there you have it Beauty Scholars…4 fabulous summer beauty tips to keep your skin safe, your glow glam, your body smooth and your feet neat!!! The one thing that is missing is…summer L the only suggestion I have for that is to wait and ask Mother Nature to bring on the heat but not too much!!! LOL
