Keep on Blushing

images

A few weeks ago I was gifted a few Tarte products from SHEfinds.com to try for my review, the Lights, Camera, Lashes™ 4-in-1 Mascara and the Cheek Stain. Today, I am here to share my thoughts on the Cheek Stain as I have reviewed the mascara in the past.

But before I spill the tea, let me give you the 411 about Tarte Cosmetics. They are known as a high performance natural brand. Their products are made without all the fillers that aren’t good for the skin! They are a cruelty free brand and they don’t test on animals.

Now that you are familiar with the brand, let me tell you about the product. The Cheek stain is Tarte’s award winning and best selling blush known as the stain that started it all. The brand claims that the stain offers a stunning, natural finish from a gel or cream consistency.

The Glam: It goes on smooth and sheer with a hint of color or you can enhance the shade by adding more. Even though it looks a little shiny on the swatch of colors on my arm, it dries with a nice sheen and finish with a just pinched fresh cheek look. The stain has great staying power and lasts throughout the day. I like it because it looks natural and it offers anti-aging and skin restorative benefits (and I always want to look like I’m 21)…LOL.

The Slam: The packaging is like a push up Popsicle and if you push too much (like me) LOL…you can’t push it back down and the top will not screw all the way on. I suggest you give it a small yet gentle nudge :-). The cost for the blush is $30 and I think that is a little expensive for a brand that is not considered luxury.

Overall, I really like the product; I plan on adding it to my makeup bag and wearing it often. My final grade for the Tarte Cheek Stain is 4 out of 5 smooches…MUAH! If you are interested in purchasing the Tarte Cheek Stain, you can get it from tarte.com or Sephora. It is available in eight shades and cost $30. Happy blushing!

Tarte BB Tint…Is it a BB Cream or a Primer???

Check out my guest product review for Tarte BB Tint…

Now that you know about Tarte, let me talk about their BB Tinted Treatment. As I stated earlier, I heart BB creams. If there is a brand that makes a color for me, I am going to buy and try it :-). In case you are wondering about what a BB Cream is, let me give you a quick overview. BB Creams are a mix between a tinted moisturizer, foundation and primer with skincare benefits. It’s lighter than a foundation but evens out the skin tone and it usually has an SPF. You can wear them alone or as a makeup primer. Click the link to continue reading more…

Report Card Review for LipSurgence Lip Tint by Tarte

Report Card Review for LipSurgence Lip Tint by Tarte
On my never-ending quest for the perfect red lipstick, stain or gloss, I came across LipSurgence by Tarte a few weeks ago in Sephora. I tried and tested several colors and Fiery is the color that I decided to purchase!!! Since Tarte is currently the apple of my eye for mascaras, I figured, maybe they could steal my heart and put an end to my journey for the perfect red lipstick!!!
The LipSurgence is a cross between a lip pencil, stain, gloss and balm. It is shaped like a chubby lip pencil, offers color like a lip stain, looks more like a gloss and feels more like a balm. Tarte states that it has natural moisturizers to smooth and soften the lips and contains mint to give an appearance of plumped lips without the stinging or irritation.
Here are the pros: It goes on creamy but it gives a matte finish. The mint is not a strong scent nor does it sting or irritate the lips. I actually love the scent and it feels refreshing. It is filled to the brim with vitamins; antioxidants and bio-nutrients to fight against the signs of aging and yes you can age on and around the lips too (and if you are a little vain like me, that is a huge plus…don’t judge me)!!! It is easy to apply with the automatic twist up container (like the automatic lip pencils). It is a great size that will fit well inside your cute little clutch on date night or a girl’s night out 🙂
Here are the cons: Although it has a great twist up container, the point of the pencil will get dull as it does not have a sharpener. Even though it has jojoba oil, it starts off moisturizing but it starts to feel dry sooner than later. It doesn’t work well with other lip-gloss brands; if you want to have a shinny pout, it may smear or bleed (I only tried it with 2 brands and it worked well with 1 and smeared with the other).
Overall, I really like the LipSurgence Lip Tint by Tarte; my final grade is 4 out of 5 smooches…MUAH!!! While it did not end my hunt for the perfect red lipstick, I will test and try other colors that they offer. LipSurgence is available in 7 colors for $24. You can purchase it at Sephora or tarte.com.

Favorite Products from 2012

So, I could not let the New Month of the New Year end without sharing my faves from 2012!!! These are the products that are my MUST HAVES…I use them EVERYDAY!!!
1. Beauty Blender Makeup Sponge – Every time I use The Beauty Blender, I receive tons of compliments on my complexion and how great my makeup looks (and we all know that every girl on earth loves a compliment or 3) *giggles*.
The sponge is latex, allergy and odor free!!! It works great when used wet especially with my powder foundation. I really love my Beauty Blender and I can’t live without it. Now, I only use brushes for eye shadow, blush and lips. The best thing is…there are no streaks or lines on the face like some wedge sponges can leave.
2. Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara – First off, let’s just say that I am totally smitten by the name alone and how clever it is. I love the unique packing of purple faux leather casing…just adorable!!! But I digress because the real question here is…did it work???
Here’s what I liked: It gave my lashes length that I have never experienced with any other mascara!!! I usually have to use 3-4 types of mascara to do the job of 1. As you can see, my lashes do not exists, so this gave me hope, faith and lashes…LOL. It also curls, gives volume, defines and conditions. I have been using this mascara for over a month and I can honestly say that my lashes do not fall out as much and my eyes are not irritated.
3. Smashbox Lip Stain – The stain last all day long and has an awesome burst of color. The lip balm gives a hint of beautiful color and shine. Worn together your lips will be topic of conversation from all the compliments you will receive from the evening.
Unlike other lip stains, the Smashbox lip stain applicator is great and easy to use. It is shaped like a felt tip marker and goes on with a glide.
4. Origins Checks and Balances Cleanser – This is my all time fave from Origins. Checks and Balances does exactly what the title says. It hydrates the dry areas and controls the oily areas to balance the skin. It is very gentle and very frothy!!! If you have combination skin…this is totally the cleanser for you!!!
5. No7 Quick Thinking 4 in 1 Wipes – I have used them on several occasions for those lazy nights when I don’t want to go through the whole skincare routine and I must say, these are by far the best makeup wipes that I have I used!!! They do what they claim and you can get it all done with the use of just 1 wipe. That’s right a full face of makeup in just 1 wipe. To validate my point, I used my Smashbox Lip Stain that I reviewed last week to put the wipes to the test and they worked!!! No traces of the lip stain were left on my hand as you can see below. And when I remove my makeup, I don’t have to use a toner and moisturizer afterwards. My skin is clean and does not feel dry!!!
6. Smash Box BB Cream – BB Creams are a twist of a tinted moisturizer and makeup primer with skincare benefits. Not only do some have a SPF but some also help with anti aging or evening out the skin tone. You can wear them alone or under your makeup as a primer or use a powder on top. I personally love my BB Cream by Smashbox!!! I wear it alone on my days off and with a powder for more coverage when I am working. This BB cream is available in 5 shades and I can get a sheer to medium coverage with a great even skin tone!!!
7. Juliette Has A Gun: Not A Perfume (not pictured here) – The name of the scent is Not A Perfume and when I tell you that the name is so fitting, please believe me because the scent is so much more!!! It is a sexy, alluring, glamorous, gorgeous and captivating scent!!! I wish the Internet had smell-o-vision just so you could be as enamored with the smell as I am. Not only is the scent amazing but it is allergen free as well.
Every time that I wear this perfume, I get compliments throughout the day. It is scent that lingers but it is not overpowering where you are like OMG…she has on too much perfume. It touches the male senses where the hugs linger and the women want to know where can they purchase a bottle. It is innocent yet sensual. The main ingredient is Cetalox, which is usually used, as a base note is now the lead note here.

Product Review on Lights Camera Lashes by Tarte Cosmetics

Are you looking for a new mascara???

I am always nervous to try a new brand of mascara because I don’t know what to expect. Will it clump, irritate my eyes or flake??? So when I recently ran out of my go to mascara, I had to talk myself into trying something new.

On one of my many journeys to Sephora, I asked a makeup specialist what would she suggest for someone who has allergies and sensitive eyes. She had 3-4 suggestions but Tarte Cosmetics was the brand I decided to purchase. I went with it because they are known as a high performance natural brand. Their products are made without all the things known as fillers that are no good!!! They are a cruelty free brand and they don’t test on animals. I don’t know about you but this sounds all good to me so I am ready to give them a try!!!

First off, let’s just say that I am totally smitten by the name alone and how clever it is.
The best thing is that it can be easily removed with my makeup wipes.
Here’s what I didn’t like: (insert crickets here) because I loved everything about it!!! My overall review if you have not guessed by now if 5 out of 5 smooches…MUAH!!! Lights, Camera Lashes cost $19 and can be purchased at Sephora or tartecosmetics.com
