Countless Color Pigments by Stila

It’s funny how time flies when you are having fun with makeup! Last year I attended The Makeup Show Chicago and I stopped by the Stila Cosmetics booth to paly with some products and have a little fun.

I remember as if it were yesterday, the brand had recently launched their Countless Color Pigments. I had seen them in Sephora but I had not had time to test the colors. Luckily for me, the Stila team was ready to take action and play.

Because of the marbled effect with the product, at first glance, I wondered what the heck do I do with this stuff? Do I wear it as a shadow or blush? Do I utilize all the colors or do I just try one? Are there different ways to use this or not? My mind was spinning with so many questions and I couldn’t wait to find out the answers.

IMG_3940

One of the makeup artist said it’s simple to use, you just, “blend, swirl and swipe on your eyes or cheeks. You can use it as a shadow or blush and you can use one color, a few colors or custom build your own.” Bingo, ding, ding ding another multifunctional product, I hit the jackpot! So with that said, let me give you The Glam, The Slam and my final grade.

IMG_3934

The Glam: This is the multifunctional product of all multifunctional products! The Color Pigment is a beauty goldmine! As the makeup artist stated, you can use this as a shadow or blush. You can use one color or several as well as custom blend your own. This product not only allows you to use it in many different ways, it allows you to be creative and sort of become your very own product developer by blending, swirling or swiping! YES…I am here for this! Can you say #winning? Oh yeah, the colors last long, they don’t crease and they offer great pigment just like the name states.

IMG_4428

The Slam: Although you can create your own shade of colors, you may not be able to recreate it on the opposite eye or cheek. And most importantly, that super stunning look you just created today, you may not be able to replicate it tomorrow or next week. Insert sad face here >>>:-(

My final grade for the Countless Color Pigments by Stila Cosmetics is 4.5 out of 5 smooches…MUAH. I love this product but I want to be able to recreate a fly look from last week and in the future…IJS. If you are interested in purchasing the product, head over to stilacosmetics.com Sephora or Ulta. They are available in eight shades and they are on sale now for $8.00 only on stilacosmetics.com. Happy blending, swirling and swiping!

Gleam, Glimmer and Shimmer

June is my favorite month because it’s the start of so many things, events and celebrations. The month of June brings warmer weather, summer, my birthday and every beauty blogger’s and makeup artist’s favorite, The Makeup Show!

Yaass…The Makeup Show was in Chicago June 7th – 8th with a Blogger Preview event on the 6th with a bag full of beauty swag presented by the amazing Celebrity Makeup Artist James Vincent. He shared some of his fave beauty products and I must say, they were all pretty impressive and I could not wait to get my beauty play date on.

IMG_4103

While I have tried a few of the products, the one that I am reviewing today is the Body Radiance from Gleam by Melanie Mills. I had never heard of the brand until James introduced it at the Blogger Preview event. So here’s a little beauty training to get you acquainted.

IMG_4607

The creator of Gleam, Melanie Mills is an Emmy Award-winning makeup artist and one of Hollywood’s leading sought after beauty consultants. With over fifteen years of experience, she has perfected her craft of sculpting faces and bodies through the art of makeup. In 2007 she was selected as the Makeup Department Head for Dancing With the Stars and in 2008 she won an Emmy for Outstanding Makeup Design.IMG_4613

Now that you have been formally introduced, let’s get to The Glam it , The Slam it and The Final Grade.

The Glam: Gleam Body Radiance is a multifunctional product; that can be used on the face and body. This is a makeup, moisturizer and glow all in one. It gives a sheen and shimmer on the skin that leaves you looking sexy, sultry and sensational. Forget playing in the sun this summer for your sun-kissed goddess bronzed look because Gleam Body Radiance will put your natural tan to shame. Oh yes, it’s just that good!

IMG_4608IMG_4609

It will not rub off on your clothes and the shimmer last all day long. It’s available in four shades so it’s great for all skin tones. Because we received the light gold in our beauty swag bags, I used it as a highlighter on my cheekbones and I love it! This product may be the 7th beauty wonder of the world. #IJS

IMG_4606

The Slam: Well, I really don’t have a slam because I really like this product. However, the website does state that Gleam Body Radiance is a wrinkle filler, skin tighter and can diminish flaws like varicose veins, small stretch marks and discoloration but I am unable to confirm this; because the shade I tried is too light to cover my imperfections with my skin tone. I would need the Bronze Gold to put that statement to the test.

My final grade for the Gleam Body Radiance in Light Gold is 5 out of 5 smooches…MUAH! It looks and feels great on my skin and the shimmer power is amazing! If you are interested in getting your gleam on, head over to gleambymelaniemills.com. It’s available in four shades and three sizes with prices ranging from $15 – $40. Happy Gleaming!

Universal High Pigment Shadows

A few months ago I attended to The Makeup Show Chicago, which is the end all to be all for a beauty junkie like me as there are brands galore to showcase their products and industry icons to share their knowledge through workshops and seminars. It is so exciting but one could become overwhelmed with all the amazing sights to see and people to meet!!! However, I did not let that stop me…I made a plan of who, what, when and where I wanted to see and meet and then I quickly put that plan into action!!! LOL

During my exploration of new brands (at least for me)…I came across Magnolia Makeup, a beauty brand based out of New Awlins (and I say this with love in my most Southern Gal drawl…no, for real, I used to live in the South…LOL). They are devoted to color that is high in pigment and they believe in quality as well as fun for every occasion!!! Yep, this sounds like a brand I want to explore; so I did…*giggles*.

It is funny because I had this brand on my list to investigate but, before I could get to it, several of my blogger friends kept telling to make sure I stopped by Magnolia before I left…so I hoped that it would be all that and then some!!!

When I approached the booth, I was amazed at all the colors. I was like a kid in a candy store and the all the makeup were my sweet treats…LOL!!! Any who, as you can read, it was love at first sight but the true test will come during my trial of wearing the product for a few weeks. While there was so much to chose from, I was able to narrow my selection down to 3 eyeshadows and 2 lip colors in a pot to purchase (and believe me…that was hard to do)!!!

IMG_0129

Today, I am only prepared to share my analysis on the Individual Pigment shadows and here is what I liked: I absolutely positively loved the pigments!!! While all you MAC girls are ranting and raving over their colors and pigments, I suggest you stop, look and listen to a new sheriff in town!!! Now, before you MAC junkies go all crazy on me, for the record, I’m not hating…IJS, give this brand a try because MAC is not the end all to be all when it comes to colors and pigments. Not only that, Magnolia is not as expensive as MAC and the overall quality is great!!! The loose pigments are easy to use and they will work on all skin tones. A little goes a long way and the color last a long time without creasing or fading…FTW!!!

IMG_0130

Now, I know this sounds like a match made in makeup heaven but there are a few dislikes and here they are: I am not one for loose shadows and or powders as they can get a tad messy but this is not a deal breaker for me if the product is great (and this is…teehee)!!! I am not sure if the Individual Pigments are mineral based or not as there is nothing on the website or the product which indicates a yay or nay and to my understanding, loose shadows are mineral based. Again, this is not a deal breaker; inquiring minds would just like to know…LOL, IJS!!!

IMG_0128

So after several weeks of the trial investigation, I have my final grade for you… I give the Individual Pigment shadows by Magnolia Makeup 5 out of 5 smooches…MUAH!!! If you are interested in purchasing the shadows, you can do so at magnolia.com for $10 each (the colors featured here are Truffle, Citrine and Gold Nugget). I hope you enjoy them as much as I do…Happy blending!!!

The Makeup Show Recap…Finally…LOL

A week ago today, I attended The Makeup Show as a Beauty Blogger and it was such an awesome experience!!! There was so much to do and so much to see in the 2-day span of the event. Makeup here, Makeup there…makeup, makeup everywhere; a beauty blogger’s dream come true!!!
The Makeup Show started on Saturday June 8, 2013 but there was a meet and greet party for bloggers and makeup artist at the Good Gyrrl Studio with the amazing James Vincent as the guest speaker. If you have never heard of James Vincent, then you are not a makeup guru or lover of all things beauty…LBVS. James Vincent is only one of the biggest celebrity makeup artists around. He has beat (makeup terminology as in painted the hell out of) some of the most famous faces such as Lady Gaga, Diane Von Furstenberg and Renee Zellweger just to name a few. As if that was not enough, he is also the Director of Artistry for The Makeup Show, The Powder Group and On Makeup Magazine. Oh yeah and he has worked for some of the best cosmetic brands around. So to say that it was an honor to meet him is kind of an understatement…LOL.
I also met radio personality Demi Lobo from WGCI and she is also the owner of a new lipstick line called The Lip Station. It is a pretty cool line with major pigment and fun names. Each lipstick is named after a felony… my fave felony is Scandal if you want to find your fave felony, go to thelipstation.com.
Saturday, I was invited to an event just for Bloggers!!! We had a chance to hear James speak and tell us about some of his favorite products. We also received a swag bag full of products and I can’t wait to try them out with reviews to follow. I kind of felt like a little girl who just received a bunch of Lip Smackers Lip-gloss on Christmas Day!!! I need a DO NOT DISTURB…Beauty Blogger Testing sign because I will be trying a lot of products over the next few weeks or maybe months!!! LOL

The actual show started on Sunday and it was a mad house!!! Beauty junkies everywhere trying to get glimpse to see what all the different brands were offering and making purchases left and right. There were seminars with some of the top makeup artist for brands like Stila, Nars and Smashbox just to name a few. My favorite seminar was Industry Insight with the awesome Crystal Wright who gave a look on how you can better yourself and your business within the beauty industry. She offered some great advice like: “When you are afraid to ask for what you want, it says you are not worth it” and “the first step to marketing yourself is to set the standard.” Even though this seminar was geared toward makeup artist, the information was easily something that any entrepreneur could translate into his or her own business. I was so excited and motivated when I walked away. Crystal’s seminar made my vision more clear and attainable!!!
After the seminar, I shopped until I dropped!!! No really…I stopped, chatted and introduced myself to almost every brand I could. I tried and purchased things I thought you would enjoy learning and trying. My first stop was one of my favorite brands, Stila!!! I had to tell me how much I loved their Smudge Stick eyeliners (in case you missed it) check out http://www.rachelobeauty.com/stila-smudge-stick-eyeliner/J. They showed me the new After Glow Lip Color, which glow in the dark!!! OMG!!! Super freaking cute, I love, I want, I must have so I purchased!!! They also showed me the new Countless Color Pigments, which can be used on the eyes or cheeks as 1-2 colors or custom colors you create with the swirl of the brush…sold!!! Yep, I purchased that as well. They Stila team was so amazing, fun and nice, they even gifted me an After Glow Lip Color and Countless Color Pigment…FTW!!!
Next stop was Eye Kandy. As I was browsing, one of the makeup artists asked if I wanted to try it and I said yes. I was a little nervous but excited. Eye Kandy has beautiful pops of color glitters for eyes and lips and they look gorg!!! The owner was nice enough to gift me a color and of course, I chose red…a review soon to come in a few weeks ;-).
I could walk you down each and every aisle as well as all the stops I made but I don’t want to overload you with day 1…LOL.
Day 2 was just as amazing but my main goal was to listen to the social media panel with Afrobella, Awesome Luvvie and Niles from Beautylish moderated by Terez Baskin (author of 11 Beautiful Tools – The Social Media Guide for Beauty Professionals). They each gave great advice on how social media can enhance your business to get you to the next level. They spoke about the over usage of #hashtags and having one name for your brand on all social media outlets vs different variations as it makes it easier for people to find you.
I was so worn out from all the shopping on day 1 that I only did a little on day 2 J I had so much fun and met so many great people as well as spent so much money…LOL. It was an amazing opportunity and I am already looking forward to next year!!! If you are interested in the beauty industry, have a passion for it or work in the industry, The Makeup Show should definitely be a to do on your list!!! If you missed Chicago, don’t worry because Orlando September 28-29 and London March 2014…don’t miss out, I promise you will not be sorry!!! Go to themakeupshow.com for more details!!!
