My Fall 2013 Makeover Experience

IMG_0529

A few days ago I attended an event at Ulta Beauty for a fall makeover from Smashbox Cosmetics. It’s funny because I was really nervous, as I have not had a full makeover in years. Yes, I know…I am a beauty blogger and you would think that this would be the norm but I never make the time, I am nervous about the look I am going to receive and I am a closet germaphobe (don’t judge me)!!! Believe it or not, I have witnessed some makeup artists with dirty brushes, blowing on a powder to remove the access or not sanitizing the brushes. Plus, you never know what little kid or teen has been playing in the makeup when no one is around…. IJS!!! So, I usually stay clear and just apply products on my hand. However, last Saturday, I took a leap of faith closed my eyes (literally) and took a chance…LOLIMG_0532

When I walked in, I did not know what to expect and I was hoping that I would get the best makeup artist that would beat my face (as they say in the industry…meaning make it fierce) if not, this post would have a totally different tone… giggles!!!

Anywho, I was approached by Rose, the Prestige Manager who organized the event to check in and get assigned to my makeup artist. Moments later, I was introduced to Christine with Smashbox Cosmetics and she asked me what look did I want her to achieve. Fall, was my answer as it only makes sense so I can show you…my Beauty Scholars the haute colors for this season :-).

Here, you will see a collage of pics from start to finish…bare face and all :-).IMG_0528After my fierce, fab, glam look from the awesome Christine, I was able to take a mini photo-shoot in the Smashbox photo booth. Yep, I felt like I was on ANTM (America’s Next Top Model) and Tyra was about to tell me that I was the new winner…LOL!!!IMG_0534IMG_0538

I had so much fun and I must admit that I am mad that I have not taken the time or the guts to this a long time ago :-(. I was so pleased with my complete look that I purchased almost everything (and that my friends is how and when a makeup artist knows if you really love the look).

IMG_0530After my new fall look, I had dinner and margaritas too see if my lipstick would last like my lip stain and guess what… it lasted but not as good. Good enough for me to give it 4 out of 5 smooches…MUAH!!!IMG_0531The overall look and the total experience was a 5 out of 5 smooches…MUAH!!! Ulta Beauty, I loved the event and Smashbox…bravo on your new fall colors!!! Beauty Scholars, I highly recommend that you get a makeover every season to change your look, get pampered and try some new products. It makes you feel great, look glam and be fabulous!!!

Special shout out to my fellow blogger in crime Ms. Travel Chic for joining me on my fall makeover adventures!!! IMG_0542

Recent Purchase from Ulta

Hey Beauty Scholars!!! This is my recent purchase from Ulta. It is the Super Sleek Hair Straightening System by Ojon. I can’t wait to use it today and review it soon!!!

I am very excited about trying this product but extremely disappointed about the lack of knowledge from the Ulta Beauty Advisor 🙁 Let’s just say, she was so in the dark on how to use this straightening system and if I did not seek out information on my own…my hair would be on the floor!!! IJS…

More details to come on my review in a few weeks or maybe a P.O.V. on the service and knowledge in the beauty department and speciality stores!!! Either way…stay tuned!!! MUAH

Report Card Review for Khloe’s Kardazzle Face Palette by Khroma

Report Card Review for Khloe’s Kardazzle Face Palette by Khroma
It’s no secret that the Kardashian’s empire is growing, growing and still growing (on the go just like that damn energizer bunny) LOL!!! While some people may not be a fan of the brand, you cannot knock their hustle…right??? The ladies have it on lock down when it comes to expanding a brand and they are obviously doing something right!!! So when I heard about the makeup line Khorma launching, I had to inquire!!!
Last month I decided to take a look in Ulta and see what the buzz was all about. To my surprise, there were no bells, whistles, streamers or hoopla surrounding the presence of the brand as I expected. I had to search to find it and it was in the mass section of the store. I was disappointed to see that there were no testers available but I guess considering the location, it was the norm.
As I picked through the mascaras, glosses, shadows, bronzers, lashes and palettes, I was surprised to come across something that caught my eye. It was a small palette of gold tones and warm bronzed colors filled with 8 shadows (4 matte and 4 shimmer), 1 blush, 1 bronzer and 1 highlighter. Jackpot, I thought!!! What a way to try several products at once and save a little money at the same time 🙂
I have been wearing palettes for a few weeks and I must say there are some things that I really like!!! I love the color palette of neutral tones and they good for most skin tones. The shadows feel like silk and they last all day, they did not crease and the shimmer shadows have great pigment!!! You can also create several looks from the different colors because they all compliment each other. I absolutely love the highlighter; it compliments my skin tone and does not look ashy!!! The overall package is a nice size that can fit in a clutch for a quick touchup if you need it or great for a travel bag for a girl on the go like myself…winning!!! The palette comes in 3 different color choices (of course) Kim, Kourtney and Khloe to appeal to different skin tones (if you don’t like 1, you have 2 more to choose from)…. you can get with this or you can get with that…the choice is absolutely yours!!! Giggles
Yes, I liked several things about the makeup palette but there are also some things that were just blah… The outer packaging is just cheap and flimsy (I cannot be more blunt than that)!!! The palette was hard to open on the first several tries…yes several (I felt like I needed directions on how to open it). The matte pigments are not what they seem; they are sheerer than they appear to be but they do show up on my skin tone. The blush and bronzer are not colors that I would normally wear but I can mix them together to get the look I want to achieve.
Overall, I like the Khloe’s Kardazzle Face Palette by Khroma. I was pleasantly surprised and I think you may be as well. My final grade is 4 out of 5 smooches (that highlighter and the shimmer shadows helps it excel from a 3.5 to a 4)…LOL. If you are interested in purchasing the makeup palette, you can purchase it at Ulta or ulta.com (FYI…ulta.com only has 1 choice of the palettes to choose from) for $12.99. What a beauty steal!!! Happy shopping!!!

Newness in Ulta

A few days ago I popped in Ulta to view the new Kardashian beauty brand called Khroma but to my surprise I found a few more beauty treats that caught my eye.
Ulta has recently added a major counter install with Lancôme and it looks amazing!!! It is very chic and state of the art. There is at least 1 full-time Beauty Advisor to offer skin consultations, makeovers, a quick touchup or foundation matching…. Who knew??? During my visit, the Beauty Advisor matched me with the new foundation called Teint Idole Ultra 24H and a BB Cream as well. He touched up my blush, added a little highlighter under my eyes and gave me a few samples to try (reviews to come soon).
While I enjoyed the great customer service from the Beauty Advisor, my makeup matching and quick touchup, I was a little disappointed when he applied the makeup without sanitizing his hands (insert sad face here)!!! I was truly not expecting that from someone who expressed his level of seniority within the industry. He totally missed something that was so basic that he lost a sale from me. Ladies, always make sure that the Beauty Advisor sanitizes his/her hands in front of you and don’t be afraid to say something if they don’t, as you never know where their hands have been…IJS!!!
I also noticed how almost every celebrity now has something to do with the cosmetics industry. Nicole by O.P.I. has launched colors with the cast of Modern Family and the singer/actress Selena Gomez. While I did not see colors that caught my eye, I thought about how interesting it is to see this growing trend with celebrities taking over the cosmetics industry but I have never seen an entire cast promote a brand. Hmm, I am not sure how I feel about this. What about you???
The last thing that caught my attention was this cool natural eye kit by Ulta. It shows you exactly how to get the look with all the colors inside the kit. This is a great kit for beginners and or teens that need to learn how to apply makeup, as practice makes perfect!!!
Overall, my quick visit was fun yet interesting and I can’t wait to go back to see the other things that I may have missed. BTW…I did purchase a mascara quartet and face palette from the Khroma brand. I can’t wait to try it out and let you know my final grade. Stay tuned, as my review will be coming soon MUAH!!!
